New Zeland with Annelie Maddock

Another wonderful discovery, I love the lightness of her work. You can find Annelie's blog here:

https://swewi.wordpress.com/
The challenge was placing triangles on our page. I created my triangles using gel medium with beads, I Love the effect of that product, but because it's so subtil, I decided to make a contour with my stabilo pencil.

Here is my page:

Here is her page for the inspiration:

I am also entereing this project into the Prima Marketing February Challenge. The colors inspired this new version.

Singapour with Jelissa Mei

13@art, Blue Fern Studios, Wild Orchid crafts and many more are lucky to have Jelissa Mei as part of the Design Team.

The challenge we were required to do was a page without a picture. only a quotation. The citation needed to be the main focus of the page. What a great idea and here is my page for this challenge:

In Pink... I rarely do Pink have 2 boys, so why not play with Pink? I just loved this quote, because crafting to me is my therapy, when I am having a bad day, crafting just makes it all better.

Here is Jelissa's page, just stunning.

Thanks for the inspiration !!!

India with Jaya Raghuvansh

Wow, Jaya does amazing work. I was not familiar with her pieces, but I am totally addicted to her work.

For this next challenge, we needed to alter 3 chipboards with different technique.for my part I used:
-Film strip with black paint & clear embossing
-Title with chalk ink
-Feathers Chalk ink with glitter paste
-Camera 2 colors of paint & glitter paste

For my background I wanted something soft. So used my favorite color turquoise, borrowed my friend Caroline's gorgeous stamp and embossed the stamp in turquoise and black. On the black ones, I added watercolor and cut them out. Then I started my layering and added ornaments

Found this old picture in my graduation yearbook. Yes it was 1989, so it was the era of spraynet, perms & highlights. We all had the same poofy hair look.

Here is a beautiful page by Jaya, I just love the softness of the page.

Thanks for the inspiration to Jaya & the Scrap aux Puce team.

Lindy's February Color Challenge-Love & Adore you

Wow a vibrant colorful challenge this month. So easy to be inspired with this new color challenge from Lindy's Stamp Gang.

You can find the Lindy's Color Challenge here: February Color Challenge

Here is my page for this challenge:

The image reminds me of the Indian traditions of throwing powdered colors to the wind, abit like the color run race. For my page I used all the colors, in bright splashes. I colored a Mandala using the same colors, but it was a bit smaller than expected, so it get's lost a bit under the picture. The Mandals was in an adult coloring book, it's the new craze right now. I was traveling for business and decided to bring my crayons along for the flight.... Here is a closer look:

Here are the products that I used on my page:

I used the Magical powders, 5 colors.

Prima Donna Purple of this set: Drop Dead Diva Store Link

Then 4 colors of the next kit (Lucious Lime, Mango Mania, Hibiscus Rose & Caribbean Blue): caribbean-cruise Store Link

 Thanks for the inspiration ladies...

Russia with Elena Sevrina

Another discovery on our tout Around the World tour with the Scrap aux Puce team.

This time we visit Russia, with Elena Sevrina. She is quite talented, I love her hand made lettering and her very eclectic style. The challenge for our page was to make a shape on our page using washi tape. Ouch.. what a challenge. Let's just say that I struggled with this one. As much as I love her freestyle... I just wasn't finding my mojo to do that type of page. So I opted for a more conventional layout. I created waves for the whale and some + on the background with my washi.

As you can guess, theses pictures are from many years ago. Caroline at Cust2Luv created this beautiful badge that says in french: What happens at the cottage stays at the cottage. This was my inspiration for the page. Many years ago we had a cottage and we always played around in the water with the boys. We had this red Kool Aid chair that the boys loved. I thought it was about time I put some of thoses great momentos on paper.

Thanks for the inspiration

Korea with Soonju Lee

Another wonderful discovery at the Scrap Aux Puce Around the World challenge. We are discovering Soonju Lee from Korea.

Here is her facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/3soonju

Not onlu  foes she do beautiful pages, but cards and Altered items as well.

Our challenge was to use many mediums on our background. I played with Light molding paste and different colors of magicals. We also needed to limit the decorative elements to less than 10. Now that was a challenge...

On my page I added some cuts2luv flair buttons and some die-cuts as well as a stamped image of the Tim Holtz crazy bird collection. I just felt the bird was a cute touch as this is a souvenir page od our DUCK Tour in Boston.

One of her beautiful pages:

Have a great day everyone !

Bella -it's all about sparkle & pink

I am getting tired of doing boy pages, so I borrowed some pictures from my friend's beautiful daughter Lauren. It feel good to get out of my usual colors and play around with Pink.

So first challenge that I am entering with this page is the one at More Than Words. The challenge this month is the word Wonderful and Sparkle.

When I saw this picture of Lauren, it made me realise how age 2 is such a wonderful age. Kids are at the discovery phase and are easily amazed by new things. At the moment, for Laurent it's all about Minnie Mouse. Can we say the wonders of Disney... Love this picture.
For the sparkle element, The title is a glitter wood veneer from Heidi Swapp, just impossible to capture on camera the beauty of this title. Also, very subtily in my background are hearts that I made with glass beads medium.

OK... So I took the picture again with more daylight, still I feel I can't get the brilliance that I truly have on this page. Maybe it's because it's too monochrom.. Not too sure.. My picture is just not doing this page justice...

Here is the info for the more thann words February challenge:

Here is the link to the blog blog post: February challenge MTW
The second challenge entry for this page is over at the 13 arts blog. This month it's all about PINK.

Here is the blog challenge link: 13Arts

Sadly none of my 13 arts products are pink, so I was not able to use them on this challenge. Note to myself to order more colors... I love their papers and the paints.

Lastly, I entered this challenge on one of the February challenges at Scrap Aux Puces. The challenge was watercolor printing with stamps. The big buttefly located on the left of my picture is made using my distress stains and that technique.

THINK PINK! So happy to be doing girly pages for once...LOL

Sweden with Jessika

On our trip around the world, we are making a stop in Sweden to Sweden and discovering Jessika. OMG what a talented artist.

The challenge proposed by the team was to do a scraplift of one of her pages. Here is my take on the challenge:

My picture was a bit larger that the one she had used, so I played with the layout a bit, but you can still see the resemblance. I added the stamped birds for a little fun, it was perfect for this picture.

Here is Jessika's page:

What can I say... that is such a stunning page, it was easy to be inspired by it.

Her blog:http://mrssandman.blogspot.ca/
The video of her page can be seen here:

LOVE- Creative Embelishments February Challenge

The Creative embelishmnets team have a great February challenge.

I was inspired by the softness of the image, and the time aspect as well. The twist was having white space. So I had this picture of my dad when he was in the hospital 3 years ago. I wanted it to be soft and also it takes me back in time, so I felt it was just perfect for this challenge. I used the heart shaped frame & the word LOVE from CE and for the time, gears element a die cut from Kaiser Crafts.

Here is a closer look at the title that was embosed with ZINK glitter (OMG a wonderful discovery from my friend Caroline's stash... Now I need this)

The story behind this picture is that my dad was dying and the nurses at the hopital let us bring him my dog Maya for a visit. My Dad just loved my dog and she loved my Dad. The trick was we needed to hide her to pass the security gards at the entrance. So my husband and the boys hid her in a Gym bag and she collaborated perfectly. Not a sound or peep her whole time at the Hospital. We were in a Private room, so it was fine. The nurses came to see her and just loved to see the smile on my Dad's face. This is probably one of my favorite memories of his last days. I truly miss him...Can't believe that it's been 3 years since he's been gone.

Here is the challenge:
The challenge is as it typically is….be inspired by at least 1 element in the picture below and please let us know what you were inspired by in your post. The twist is white space. That is always a hard  thing for me and my cluttered mind. Do not forget to read the revised guidelines below the inspo picture.
Twist: White space

Thanks for the challenge ladies... I am very please with how my page turned out.
Have a great day !

Ukraine with Frau Muller

Ukraine, aplace that I have never been but I know is the host of many wonderful Mix-Media artists including :

Frau Muller (Natalia) her blog : http://fraumuller.blogspot.ca/

I've seen her work before on the 7 dots studio website, she is one of my favorites in the design team.

The challenge was to create a background using many layers of medium and also many layers of paper behind our picture.

Here is my take on the challenge using another picture from our family vacation in Riviera Maya in 2013:

So for this challenge I decided that I was making my background paper from scratch. Here are a few pictures to show my process:

I started with white cardstock and added a layer of light medium thru a text stencil:

Then I started playing with my paints combining the, with Liquid Glazing medium:

I found that the 13 Arts paint is REALLY REALLY pigmented so I should have used more medium with it, It just would not come off with the baby wipes as normal acrylique paint would... so it was one of this OH WELL moments, let's deal with it and move on...

Oh yes... VERY VERY pigmented paint that just does not want to come off my fingers. Gotta love that Mix-Media manicure:

Then I added the 2nd stencil with Finnabair white crackle paint thru a heart stencil:

To my surprise when this was drying, the hearts were turning blue... did I mention that the paint was very pigmented? LOL

Then I just added some of the beige paint on with my fingers to create more momentum in the background with touches of the blue paint on certain ares to give the page more debth.

And then you just add the ornaments a litlle splatter of ink here and there, some stamping and you are done....

On my page you will find Cuts2luv badges, Creative Embelishments frame & title die-cuts, Prima flowers and I was ready to go...

Here is one of her pages that I really loved...

Thanks for the inspiration Scrap aux Puce Design Team & Frau Muller...

Hugs & Kisses
