Enjoy Today- 7 Dots studio and Mixed Media place challenge participation

My Cuba album is coming along nicely since I am so inspired by the beautiful challenges on a few blogs.

My most recent page is a picture of my son while we were out on the Catamran excursion. He was at the front just looking out at the waves, I was lucky to get this beautiful picture.

I am enterting this page in 2 challenges.

So the 1st one is the 7 Dots Studio for July-August. The request was that we use a quote on our page, Just loved the idea.

My Quote: Turn off your mind. Relax and flooat downstream by the Beatles.

Now isn't it just perfect for this picture?

Here is a closer look at the picture, my Cuts2Luv badge, my flowers and seashells that we pickup on the beach during our vacation.

If you want to participate in the 7 Dots Studio blog challenge you can find the link here: July-August 2016

And the inspiration wheel:

Now for the second entry, Mixed Media Place, you can find the link here: July challenge moodboard

Now have a look at this moodboard, it's just YUMMY with that color combination. I was inspired by the Lake picture and the clouds, this is what promted me to use the picture of Gabriel on the boat, you have that similar fell to it.

One product that I always use when I start my mixed media pages is the clear Gesso, it's become my first step in all my most recent pages. There are many out there, but this one is my favorite:

Next steps were to add some heavy Gesso thru one of my finnabair stencils and then start mounting my page. I found that I did not have a spray that had the correct blue that I wanted to use so I decided to make one by diluting one of my new Finnabair Metalic paints. I used it to spray my cheese cloth:

Next step was to paint the metal piece that I had found, it was bronze and I didn't feel it had the right fit for the page. I used my same paint directly on the piece, no need to gesso before. It worked perfectly and I love the shimmer you get out of this paint. They've become my most recent favorites.

Other products used: Kaiserkraft die, Prima Marketing Flowers, Cuts2Luv badge, seashells, Finnabair Gel Medium & Scrapiniec die-cut.

I hope you've enjoyed looking at my page, it was fun to make. Thanks for the inspiration ladies

Smile More than Words Challenge

Last day of my vacation, still wanted to take some time to get crafty before going back to work. I was inspired by the More than Words challenge for July. Loved the sketch and the theme being smile, I knew what picture I was going to use.

Let's start with the sketch and inspiration for my page:

You can find the information about the challenge here: July Sketch & Smile

And now my page for this challenge:

Here I am with 2 of my old friends that live in New-Brunswick, we don't get the chance to see each other as often as I would like, but I sure enjoy seeing them when I do. Smile, just perfect for this picture because that is what we do when we are together, smile and laugh. Joanne and Renee are just too much fun. I sure wish we lived closer.

Ahhhh how I love them so...

Impossible not to add some Cuts2Luv badges:

I added some tone on tone embossing over my background Lindy's stamp gang ink with this beautiful pink embossing powder.

I just love this quote I found in my stash of papers:

Thanks for the challenge !

13Arts Challenge #44

Challenge #44 - "Dare To Be Daring"

I have to say that it took me some time to reflect on what picture I could use for this challenge and unfortunatly, I can't say that I had a one that fit perfectly for this challenge, luckily they also stated that we could try something different as a tecnique on our page so I opted for that part of the challenge.

The picture I used is one of my husband during our Catamaran cruise in Cuba. He's owned his own 18 feet Catamaran in the past and he loved the speed and hight he could get, so of course lounging on this huge one is nothing exciting for him, but it was the first time our boys got the chance to go out on such a boat.

So what did I dare to do on this page you might ask? Well, I did an embossing technique thru a stencil. It's nothing innovative, that I know, but I've never done it before. My embossing pads are quite big, and I never felt I could truly control where I was applying the ink, so I never dared to try it before.

I fell in love with this embossing powder that a friend Bellacropper used during a crop. I just had to get it. The 13@rts paper was just perfect because it is giving a tone on tone effect, so it's ok if my embossing isn't perfect. Also it has sparkles inside, something I typically would not use on a man's page.

Here is a closer look at the product by Stampendous, it's almost impossible to get the details in the embossing, but it has a great mixture of white, blue, beige enamel with blue sparkles, just stunning.

I also used some of my favorite Pretty Little Studios stickers, I just Love them. The flowers are Wild Orchid Crafts, the chipboard are from Creative Embelishments.

Last but not least, one of my favorites badges from Cuts2Luv the world map. I just LOVE LOVE LOVE it.

Here is the 13@rts inspiration board:

Detination Havana for Lindy's stamp gang & 7 Dots Studio challenges

I am enjoying the laste few days of my vacation, trying to take some time and play in my craftroom. I am starting to build my souvenir album from our recent trip to Cuba. I know many people enjoy mini albums and I might do one, but I feel like doing some 12x12 pages at the moment.

Got inspired by the july challenges at Lindy's Stamp Gang and also at 7 Dots Studio

Let's start with the challenge at Lindy's Stamp Gang. I got inspired by the vibrant colors of the color combination, mainly the green, pink and blue. I just took thsi perfect picture in Havana of the old American Cars. It's very typical in Havana and I just wanted to start my album with this picture.

Look at the beautiful colors of theses sprays, that I applied with a paint brush.

You can find them in the store here:

Now on to the 7 Dots Studio challenge:

The June-July challenge can be found here:June-July 2016

The paper collection I used for my page is one of my favorites for the Dreamer Collection by Anna Dabrowska-Pkocka #SDPP0012

The challenge was to focus on Urban Themes, think big cities. Well, just coming back from Cuba, I had to make a page of our day trip to visit Havana. What did we love the most about Havana? How they are renovating many of the old buidlings that have been damaged thru the years and also the tons of old American Vintage cars. On our outing we actually traveled from Varadero to Havana in one of theses old cars. I took this picture of a series of convertible cars all ligned up in the old town of Havana. Just had to use this one for my challenge.

Here is a closer look at my beautiful picture with the architecture in the background.

Other products used in the page are badges from Cuts2Luv and flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts

Hope you enjoyed my take on the challenges.

Cuts2Luv July & Pinkfresh studios blog challenge

Can't sleep, so might as well get crafty. Teenagers hate cameras so I've been looking at old pictures to try and find some new ones that I've not crafted yet and I found this beautiful picture of Gabriel in a pool. He must be about 8 or 9 on this picture and he still has that charming smile.

It was just the perfect picture for this challenge.

The beautiful moodboard:
I was inspired by the sketch, the color combo &  the anchor
