Bliss- Steampunk style

It’s the beginning of fall here in Canada, time to start playing with rusty colors on our pages and I found the perfect challenge to do so. For my page I was inspired by 2 blog challenges. The first from 7 Dots studio and the 2nd from Creative Scrappers.

Steampunk... wow, I was amazed with the Design Team creations. I love the mixture of the metal and clock ornaments and I am fascinated on the level of detail that you find on many pages. Now I was faced with an issue.... The picture for my page, I like to harmonize mine with my pages but I had nothing in my stash that would work well with this style. I know an extremely talented photographer in Montreal Maxime Thibodeau, so I went and asked if I could use one of his pictures for my layout.

This page was truly fun to do; I had many of these elements in my stash just gathering dust. Too often I purchase embellishments and it takes forever for me to decide to use them. Over the years I have to say I have gathered quite a huge amount. Here is a closer look:

To color the chipboard I used black paint for my base then added silve crackle Finnabair medium. Once dry I added touches of copper metalic paint I gesso. Love how this turned out.

I love adding quotes to my pages and this is one of my favorites:

The picture... His work is just amazing, his ability to capture de details thru his lens is mind-blowing. His most recent pieces focus on hairstyles and he's been published in a few magazines. He is such a sweet young man and I know we will be seeing more and more of his work. Here is a closer look at his breathtaking picture:

I also was inspired by the sketch of the month from Creative Scrappers. I have to admit that my first starting point to create my page ended up in the trash bin... Then I saw this sketch and I knew I just had the perfect Blue Fern Studio chipboards to make this a perfect layout.

Cuts2luv is sponsoring the challenge this month over at the Creative Scrapper blog. It’s no secret that I am a great fan of their badges. Here is another close look of one that I added on my page:

Well I hope you enjoyed my take on the challenges. Thanks for the inspiration to both Creative teams.

A special thanks to Maxime Thibodeau for letting me use his work on my page.

Enjoy Tag for Scrapki-Wyzwaniowo & More than Words

Making tags is not something I do frequently. I love admiring them, but seldom create them. Recently some blog challenges have given me more inspiration to do a few, so I am planning on using them with upcoming birthday gifts instead of the standard cards.

For this one, I was inspired by 2 challenges, the first one is from Scrapki-Wyzwaniowo blog. Here is the link: September challenge

I loved the colors and the stars in the image, that was the starting point for my project:

Here is the challenge image:

Here is a closer look at my tag:

I just love the glitter of the chipboard and the stars in the background.

The next entry was for the facebook challenge at More Than Words Challenges. This mini challenge we were required to use the word: Enjoy.

September challenges at Blue Fern Studios and More than Words

Had a wonderful crafty day with my friends on saturday, so hard to believe that it's mid September already. I am still in the mood for crafting my beach scenes. Still many beautiful pictures of Cuba that I want to put on paper.

For this page I was inspired by 2 challenges: Blue Fern Studios & More than Words:

Let's start with the Blue Fern Studio challenge that you can find here: September challenge

I love the color combination, the images of the beach, the flowers and the seashells.

I used a few of my most recent pieces: Doily chipboard, the By the Sea chipboard, the seashell chipboards, the flowers and my background paper.

I also recently acquired my 1st Blue Fern Studio embossing powder, and I just love it. It's perfect sandy beige color with just the perfect amount of shimmer.

My next entry for this page is for the September challenge at More than Words. This month the team used a Recipe challenge with the word Delight.

My option of the 2 was to use the Art Recipe. On my page you will find:
Die-cut leaves
3 Badges from Cuts2Luv
Flowers
Mists from Lindy's Spray Gang

The link to the challenge: Delight & Recipe

Now for the Delight part... Well, when I hear the word delight, I also think about Joy, or what makes me Happy. This is what Delight means to me, and trust whan I say that spending time with my family is just that... Many moments of Delight. As my boys are getting older, every moment is more and more important in my heart because pretty soon, they will be young adults and I know I will have less and less time with them.

One of the flair buttons also has a beautiful french saying: Apprécier les bon moments: This means appreciate the good moments... Isn't it just perfect ???

I have this frame in our living room that I use to place my family pages. This is how on a daily level, I get to remember the moments we have shared together.

Now everyday, I can see and remember this delightful event. Do you showcase your work in your home?

Thanks to both teams for the inspiration. Hope you enjoyed my take on your challenges.

Dusty Attic September blog challenge entry

INSPIRED ! oh my oh my, what a fabulous moodboard on the Dusty Attic blog this month. Love Love Love it !.So... I had the idea of making my own dream catcher. It's not perfect, but it's not bad either... I am happy with the end result.

Here is my canvas for this challenge:

I love this Dusty Attic chipboard: Always find time for the things in life that make you happy.

It is hard to get the depth of the canvas, so here is a different angle:

I started my background by adding molding paste thru a stars stencils by Prima. Then when it was dry, I painted the background brown and removed some of the paint with some tissue paper:

Then I added the dabs of gold and turquois shimmer paints, funny how the light makes it look green even thought it is in the blue hues... So hard to take a good picture of shimmer paints I find.

I added some paint splatters and the used a foam doily as the center of my dream catcher. I used a metal circle that I covered in ribbon for the external part of the dream catcher.

Then came the final touches with adding the Cuts2Luv badge, the flowers and the embossed title.

Here is the beautiful moodboard and link:

Thanks for the INSPIRATION ladies, I hope you enjoy my take on your board.

Dream- Lindy's Stamp Gang & Mixed Media Place challenge entry

Good morning everyone, where has the time gone by, hard to believe that we are already in September, feels like yestarday that we were in June. With the close arrival of fall comes beautiful orangy green colors. In Canada we are quite lucky to have the 4 seasons and fall is particularly nice here. Once again, my craftiness was inspired by some blog challenges.

For the first entry, I was inspired by the colors of the Lindy's Stamp Gang challenge. Unfortunatly, I did not have the exact colors in my stash, but I did have slightly brighter hues of the orange and green, so I opted for thoses 2 colors of the combo as my main colors.

I used my magical powders with watercolor paper (technique shown by one of the DT members Caroline recently). I splattered some magicals on my paper and then sprayed water and let the magic begin. Then I stamped my flowers and butterfly with Archival black ink over the colored sections:

I also wanted to add some texture to my blackboard, so I mixed my darkest green (Ponderosas Pine Olive) with modeling paste and applied that thru a stencil to create the small hearts on my blackboard.

Link to the September challenge: HERE

The Magical colors I used can be found online in the store using the following links:

Kissin Kenickie coral
Drop Dead Gorgeous Green
Ponderosa Pines Olive

My second entry for this challenge was inspired by the Creative Gym #20 at Mixed Media Place

Link to the challenge: Creative Gym #20

I was inspired mainly by the quotation. I love my finnabair buttefly stamp because it has this beautiful dreams quote inside:

I used my beautiful green metallic paint to cover the base of my project and added the stunning gold microbeads to the center of my stamped flowers with Gel medium. The Alchamy paints have become some of my favorites to use, I just love the shimmer they have.

Other ornaments used are  my badges from Cuts2Luv, flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts and stamped leaves by KesiArt using the Ombre inks.

Hope you enjoyed my project, It sure brightens my crafty space. Wishing you a great week.

Bellagio- September challenge at Cuts2Luv and Creative Embellishments

Just back from a beautiful 5 day trip in Las Vegas... We visited so many beautiful places, but this one place was my favorite, the interior courtyard at the Bellagio. Aquarium themed setting, stunning at day as well as night. Just a dreamy place to visit.

I am entering this page for 2 challenges, For the first one over at Cuts2Luv blog, I was inspired by the moodboard and used the following:
2 stencils (numbers & hearts) with ditress inks
Sketch
Color Combo

Here is a closer look at my badges:

Now look at this beautiful moodboard:

My second entry for this page is over at Creative Embellishments.

I was inspired by the image with the elements of time and numbers. In Vegas, you lose track of time, it's just amazing how it is a beautiful place and you don't feel the time going by, with the exception of your feet reminding your that you've been walking since forever. The image reminded me also of the contrast of night and bright lights in Vegas.

I added one of the beautiful clock ornaments, and the numbers are stenciled with ink on my background.

Here is the image:

Thanks to both teams for the wonderful inspiration !!!
